A Case of Diastematomyelia Presenting With Minimal Neurologic Deficits in a Middle-Aged Patient

Diastematomyelia is a rare congenital deformity of the spine in which spinal cord split into two hemicords along sagittal plane. This condition belongs to group dysraphisms, more common females, and usually diagnosed prenatally or during childhood; rarely it adults. We report male patient his 50s diastematomyelia thoracic was incidentally encountered after receiving CT scan chest for shortness breath. Although most patients with this are symptomatic, did not display any significant acute neurological complaints at time. The had history spina bifida paraplegic, both commonly associated diastematomyelia. lack progressive neurologic symptoms, diagnosis patient's adult life, presence anomaly solely make unusual case. Early recognition condition, by prenatal ultrasound MRI, can help prevent further damage allow affected seek treatment sooner, thus improving quality life.
